Last week, I had a strong desire to write about this, but my emotions, mind, and hands were paralyzed. Anger struck me as I thought to myself again, "Here's yet another demonstration, evidence of the sickness." I thought about the thousands, millions of white people who are most likely in agreement with the principal. Thoughts registered about the number of Black people, too, who believe that Darryl George and his family are "taking things too far," and that they should "just let this go and cut his hair."
As my mind and emotions engaged in mental and emotional gymnastics, burgeoning thoughts and anxiety filled my body. Ms. Elizabeth Furnoy, my fourth-grade teacher, emerged into my memory. This woman had terrorized me the entire year. She antagonized me as a nine-year-old child, by benching me from lunch recess because I liked to do cartwheels which she characterized as 'breakdancing.' At the end of the year, she held me back because I was "not mature enough," in her eyes, "to promote to the fifth grade." I remembered the devastation and brief impairment to my confidence, as feelings of inadequacy and insecurity took over my adolescent self.
Eleven-year-old Faith Fennidy's suspension in 2018 for the way her mother chose to style her hair, the strip searching of four 12-year-old Black girls in 2019 for laughing too much at lunch, all came to mind.
Black people are not safe in America. We remain under a constant state of attack. We exist in a psychopathic and sociopathic culture that has normalized and trains people to, as I wrote in #The400YearHolocaust, "possess and operationalize innate psychological and emotional reflexes that react and respond negatively to Black people." Black people and other non-White people are beneficiaries of #WhitePsychopathology and #AntiBlackness, too.
#WhitePsychopathology and #AntiBlackness are psychotic. Dr. Bobby Wright wrote, in The Psychopathic Racial Personality (1975):
“In their relationship with the Black race, Europeans (Whites) are psychopaths, and their behavior represents an underlying biologically transmitted proclivity with roots deep in their evolutionary history. The psychopath is an individual who is constantly in conflict with other persons or groups. He is unable to experience guilt, is completely selfish and callous, and has a total disregard for the rights of others.”
“One of the best methods that can be used to measure the psychopathic traits of the White race is observing and analyzing their universal overt behaviors and attitudes towards Blacks.”
“Psychopaths simply ignore the concept of right and wrong. By ignoring this trait in the White race (the lack of ethical and moral development) Blacks have made and are still making a tragic mistake in basing the worldwide Black liberation movement on moral suasion. It is pathological for Blacks to keep attempting to use moral suasion on a people who have no morality where race is the variable.”
I agree with Dr. Wright 100%. It is also important to understand how white people, as owners of Black and non-white people in America, have spread their cultural psychology into the minds of Americans of color through all aspects of American institutional and cultural norms. As infants, we are immersed into a world of #WhitePsychopathology and #Anti-Blackness, and we absorb it through forced assimilation and conformity. All of us. There is no room for alternative programming that could inform different functionalities.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., stated in his speech, #TheOtherAmerica, that "The ultimate logic of racism is genocide."
Black people are being massacred through a combination of gradual and immediate genocide."
What drivel!
There is a level of rage I feel that still, must pale in comparison to yours, Dante. The cruelty of this. The refusal to hear, see, or care. The ignorance of history. The unrelenting racism. Like rain beating down on a roof already bended with its weight. I am so sorry you must face each day with this in front of you. That you still manage to bring your beauty and brilliance is a testimony to your resilience and power. But damn...
