CALLING OUT SAN FRANCISCO MAYOR DANIEL LURIE

PLEASE SHARE AND REPOST THIS POST AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU!!

Last week, I led members of the Black Employees Alliance—an advocacy group for Black workers in San Francisco—into San Francisco City Hall 🏛️.

This photo captures a moment when we were met with hostility, disrespect, and blatant anti-Black racism from Mayor Daniel Lurie’s office staff. See original post here: https://tinyurl.com/b2hwbfjr

🔎 The day after our march, I received a call from a member of Mayor Lurie’s team, asking me to remove my initial social media post—the one where I highlighted the racism and bias we experienced. During this call, it was made clear (to me and others on the line) that Mayor Lurie and his staff would likely view our efforts and my post as "unfavorable"—implying that securing a meeting with him would be more difficult as a result (we are choosing to keep the person’s name confidential as of this moment).

Let’s be clear: Mayor Lurie is a public official. He should be open to meeting with all constituents—especially those advocating for marginalized communities—regardless of whether they challenge his views or policies.

For those who may not fully grasp the weight of this situation, let me spell it out: A staff member strongly suggested that Mayor Lurie’s office operates on a quid pro quo basis. 🤔

Now, I can't confirm whether that’s true. What I do know is that no one from Mayor Lurie’s staff has reached out to schedule a meeting with the Black Employees Alliance. And that silence? It only adds to the belief that the quid pro quo suggestion holds weight.

If this is the reality, then Black people and the most vulnerable communities will not be prioritized in Mayor Lurie’s administration. Instead, we will be ignored, dismissed, and deprioritized. 🚨

So, Mayor Lurie: What’s the word (WTW)?! 👀
